آرش سبحانی در ۱۳ دی ۱۳۴۹ در تهران متولد شد و کودکی و نوجوانی‌اش را در این شهر گذراند. پس از پایان تحصیلات متوسطه، رشته معماری را در دانشگاه هنر اصفهان ادامه داد و تحصیلات عالیه‌اش را در این حوزه به پایان رساند. سبک زندگی و علایق او بعدها تأثیر زیادی بر آثار هنری‌اش گذاشت.
سال ۱۳۸۵ وی ایران را ترک کرد و به آمریکا مهاجرت نمود؛ جایی که بتواند کارهای موسیقی‌اش را آزادتر و بدون محدودیت اجرا کند. زندگی در خارج از کشور فرصت‌هایی فراهم آورد تا با امکانات جدید و فضای موسیقایی متفاوت آشنا شود و گروه موسیقی «کیوسک» را با تمرکز بر موسیقی راک، بلوز و ترکیب‌های آلتِرنیتیو راه‌اندازی کند.
آرش علاوه بر خوانندگی، نوازندهٔ گیتار الکتریک است و ترانه‌سرا و آهنگساز آثار گروه کیوسک بوده است. مضامین آثار کیوسک معمولاً اجتماعی یا سیاسی‌اند؛ او سعی کرده صدای نسل مستقلی باشد که نقدهایی نسبت به وضعیت جامعه دارد. در آثار اخیرش، تلفیق سبک‌های مختلف موسیقی را می‌توان دید.
علاوه بر فعالیت‌های موسیقی، آرش سبحانی در عرصه‌های فرهنگی و هنری دیگر نیز فعال است: برگزاری نمایشگاه‌های عکاسی معماری، نگارش مقالات فرهنگی و معماری، و شرکت در همایش‌ها و میزگردهایی در دانشگاه‌های معتبر بین‌المللی درباره فرهنگ معاصر ایران.
در کنار این فعالیت‌ها، او در عرصه رسانه نیز حضور داشته است؛ مجری برنامه‌هایی بوده است که به نقد اجتماعی و گزارش وضعیت جامعه ایران می‌پردازند. این تعامل با فرهنگ، سیاست و جامعه، وجه تمایز کار آرش سبحانی است که مخاطبان را فراتر از شنوندگان موسیقی‌اش به تأمل و گفتگو دعوت می‌کند.
Arash Sobhani was born on January 3, 1971, in Tehran, where he spent his childhood and teenage years. After finishing high school, he pursued architecture at the University of Art in Isfahan and completed his higher education in this field. His lifestyle and personal interests later had a significant influence on his artistic works.
In 2006, he left Iran and emigrated to the United States, where he could continue his musical career more freely without restrictions. Living abroad provided him with opportunities to explore new resources and different musical environments, which led him to establish the band “Kiosk,” focusing on rock, blues, and alternative musical fusions.
In addition to being a singer, Arash is an electric guitar player, songwriter, and composer of Kiosk’s works. The themes of Kiosk’s songs are often social or political; he has tried to be the voice of an independent generation with critiques of societal conditions. In his recent works, one can see a blend of different musical styles.
Beyond music, Arash Sobhani has also been active in other cultural and artistic fields: organizing architectural photography exhibitions, writing cultural and architectural articles, and participating in conferences and panel discussions at prestigious international universities about contemporary Iranian culture.
Alongside these activities, he has also had a presence in media, hosting programs that reflect on social critiques and report on the situation in Iranian society. This engagement with culture, politics, and society has distinguished Arash Sobhani’s work, inviting his audience not only to listen to music but also to reflect and engage in dialogue.
