Yaser Bakhtiari<\/strong>, known by his stage name YAS<\/strong>, was born on June 20, 1982, in Rezvanshahr, Gilan, Iran. He is one of the pioneers of Persian rap and began his professional career in the early 2000s. After the passing of his father at the age of 18, YAS took on the responsibility of supporting his family, which led him to leave his university studies. While working to provide for his family, he pursued his passion for rap music and started writing lyrics with strong social themes.<\/p>\n

His first widely recognized song, “Bam”<\/strong>, was released following the tragic 2003 Bam earthquake<\/strong>, bringing him significant attention. In 2006, he collaborated with Amin on the track “CD Ro Beshkan” (Break the CD)<\/strong>, which addressed issues surrounding leaked private videos and moral concerns in society. This song became a major hit and further solidified his reputation as a socially conscious rapper.<\/p>\n

YAS became the first Persian rapper to receive an official permit<\/strong> to release his songs legally in Iran. His first officially approved track, “Yadet Nare” (Don\u2019t Forget)<\/strong>, was a collaboration with pop singer Majid Ghafouri. His lyrics focus on social issues such as poverty, addiction, unemployment, war, prostitution, suicide, and divorce<\/strong>, offering a critical and thought-provoking perspective aimed at raising awareness among listeners.<\/p>\n

Throughout his career, YAS has performed in multiple cities across the United States<\/strong>, including Los Angeles, Washington, Las Vegas, New York, Detroit, and Chicago<\/strong>. He has also represented Persian rap music in musical conferences at American universities<\/strong> and participated in a session at the Asia Society Conference in Manhattan<\/strong>. His international collaborations<\/strong>, such as those with Tech N9ne and Dia Espaniol<\/strong>, have further expanded his influence beyond Iran.<\/p>\n

With over two decades in the industry, YAS remains one of the most influential figures in Persian rap<\/strong>, using his music to shed light on critical social issues. His impactful lyrics and thought-provoking messages continue to resonate with audiences worldwide, making him a key voice in the genre.<\/p>\n
